Papercut

The past weeks have all been work work work in the studio (hence the lack of posts). To say things are a bit mad would definitely be an understatement. Despite having an extra pair of hands, there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. O how I envy those having a pint in the sun.

Anyway, received the above from Papercut.

Have a great weekend… I’ll try to work 12 instead of 18 hours.

RIP Amy Winehouse…

Very shocked and saddenned by the passing of the greatest vocalist and wordsmith of our time- Miss Any Winehouse.

I first met Amy just about after the released of her debut album- Frank. Then, I was working in a vintage store in Camden Market and Amy would come in during the week in the afternoon. We would banter and I’ll be running around looking for dresses and then zipping her up in the smallest one that I can find. She never ever fail to make my day and even bought a pair of pink crochet hoop earrings that I made :) . And I love how she always referred to me as ‘da bad boy’. Blessed.

And for 1 and a half year, I listen to Frank every morning for 3 days a week on the train to get to college. It was the only thing that I could bare in the morning and the only thing that could make me totally oblivious to the sardine condition of peak-hours train.

And live, she was just amazing.

Amy, you will be remembered.

RIP

One step beyond…

Been working at the studio at really strange (and long) hours before the weekend. Partly to make up for a major cock-up I made.  It was a disaster at that moment but looking back at it, it wasn’t really that bad after all. Yes, it was a mistake but hey it might just be a blessing in disguise (yes, i’m keeping my fingers and eyes crossed).

So, for the weekend I took it a little easy (relatively). Besides cooking up a storm of a chilli feast :) I managed to find myself some nice nice records; ELO- A New World Record, Erasure- The Circus, Adam and the Ants- Prince Charming,  Kate Bush- Hounds of Love and my highlight this time, The Madness- One Step Beyond. Was worried that the record might be a little scratched but turns out, it was fine. Let’s hope my ‘mistake’ turns out that way!

Meeting of minds…

Agi and Sam Neurotica

Yesterday was a busy day with meetings and more meetings and ended with a clan meeting at Bloody Gray HQ. We made plans for the looming fashion week(very exciting plans I might add!!) and basically had a good ol bitch about everything.

It was really good to be in the company of like minded people as working in your own studio, being totally cut-off from the outside world, can be a rather lonely process. And the best bit about the designers under Bloody Gray is their willingness to share- information, experiences etc.

I took the opportunity to pick a few brains, namely Sam from Agi and Sam which I kinda know through VFS(Vauxhall Fashion Scout) but never really chatted before… and Victoria from Neurotica, whose brain I am going to pick some more and that I’m supposed to be sending her some funny little pics. :)

Thanks guys!

P.S. Special thanks to Becc for the alcohol!!

It’s London town innit?

Was on a bus back from East London to my studio the other day when the Tower Bridge was raised to let a boat pass. The tourists that were on the bridge went into a frenzy and there was literally a race to take snaps of the now vertical road.

I love London and I love it for what it is. And what it is, is what you make of it.

O and I love hearing people talk. Strangers.. on the bus, on the street.. They are usually quite loud so you really can’t help it. 2 of my recent favourite lines are:

- ‘It’s the feature wall innit…it’s gonna be wallpaper innit’ (it’s a lot funnier if you’ve heard the whole mobile conversation which involves packing, decorating and pina colada)

and my new new favourite…

- ‘I’m not like your stereotype black… I’m more of a Beyonce black.’

Beat that!
