James hock
MALAYSIAN BORN JAMES HOCK GRADUATED FROM MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY, SYDNEY IN 2000 WITH A DEGREE IN ACCOUNTING. AFTER PERFORMING A BRIEF STINT AS AN AUDITOR, HE MOVED TO LONDON SIMPLY BECAUSE ‘HE WAS BORED’. AS A HOST IN LONDON’S FRINGE CLUB SCENE, HE GAINED FAME FOR HIS ICONIC LOOKS AND IMPECCABLE SENSE OF STYLE.
ADMIRED BY MANY, WORN BY THE CONFIDENT OR DEFIANT, HIS COLLECTIONS ALWAYS REVEAL NEW POSSIBILITIES IN TEXTURES, SHAPES AND PROPORTIONS. HIS USE OF RECYCLED MATERIAL STEMS FROM HIS LOVE OF CUSTOMISING CLOTHING AND HIS EXPERIMENTATION WITH OBSCURE OR MUNDANE OBJECTS IS SET TO CONTINUE.

Repost: Kingdom of Style.

This post from Kingdom of Style just came a month ago but I’ve just only recently be made aware of it. Anyway, thought I’ll just repost it here. :)

Flock To Hock

I really look forward to the lookbooks of designers on the Bloody Gray roster. Todays delight came in the form of the latest work from James Hock, the Malaysian born designer.

James’ penchant for the exploration of shape, texture and use of recycled material “stems from his love of customising clothing and his experimentation with obscure or mundane objects…“.

The beauty, aside from the obvious, is that whilst James clearly enjoys manipulating proportion, it’s never done to such a degree that the clothing becomes absurd – which is all too easy to do.
